Rudy, a farm boy from East Consin, recognized the words on the parchment "Greetings from your Sovereign, Roy the Twelfth, King by the Grace of the Gods. Your neighbors have selected you for Royal Service." He was being drafted.
Rudy had been selected by the Oracle Corporation to serve on a quest as the lucky seventh member of the Quest fellowship. Of course, the Oracle Corporation couldn't be wrong; they were the Crystal ball people. Their slogan is "we know what's going to happen next. Don't you think you ought to too?" He is equipped with a horse, a sword, and a crystal ball (a little globe with a snowman inside and when you shake it, snowflakes swirl around).
Serving with Rudy on the quest is Prince Parvo (a real jerk), the beautiful Princess Bunny (she's called Bunny because her feet are so big the only thing she can find to wear are white basketball shoes and it makes her look like a snowshoe rabbit), Fungo (a punked-out Dwarf, clean shaven to show off his piercings and tattoos), Cedric (a gay Elf fond of yellow zoot suits) and Scab (a small, bad-smelling thief with scaly feet).
Together they have to discover exactly what mysterious events are occurring in the Deadlands—a place with a very bad reputation. Nobody in their right mind goes into the Deadlands. The quest fellowship have to solve this mystery before Rudy is allowed to go back home to his farm. The fate of their world, and especially the fate of the dragons, rests in Rudy’s hands.
